Two people killed, one person severely injured, and one other person injured near 8740 W IRVING PARK RD in O'Hare

Two passengers were killed and a driver was severely injured after a Sunday early morning head on collision in O'Hare on December 15, 2024 at 12:16 AM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 8740 W IRVING PARK RD, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 45 mph. It was dark, the weather was rainy, and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to improper overtaking or passing.

There were three motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE was heading east. The police report described the driver, a 23-year-old woman, as going too fast for conditions. Her airbag deployed; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. A 56-year-old female passenger was wearing a seat belt, her airbag deployed, and was trapped; she was killed. A 30-year-old female passenger was killed; her airbag deployed.
• A 2016 Dodge Dart was heading west and was hit in the total (all areas). The driver, a 29-year-old man, reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed.
• A 2017 Lexus IS300 was heading east and was hit in the front. The driver, a 22-year-old man, was uninjured; his airbag deployed.

Police were notified at 12:18 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 625th injurious crash reported in December 2024, and the 17,721st injurious crash reported in 2024. It was the 107th fatal crash for 2024.
