One person killed, and one other person injured near 3429 W ROOSEVELT RD in North Lawndale
A driver was killed after a Thursday afternoon turning collision in North Lawndale on March 16, 2023 at 1:40 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
The crash occurred near 3429 W ROOSEVELT RD, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to yield right of way; and, secondarily, to traveling the wrong way or on the wrong side.

- A 2022 Chevrolet Equinox was heading east and was hit in the side-left. The driver, a 58-year-old woman, reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
- A bus of unknown make operated by the CTA was heading east and was hit in the side-left-rear. The driver, a 54-year-old man, was uninjured.
- A 2015 Buick Lacrosse was heading east and was hit in the side-left. The driver, a 48-year-old man, was uninjured.
Police were notified at 1:40 PM. This was the 617th injurious crash reported in March 2023, and the 2,775th injurious crash reported in 2023. It was the 34th fatal crash for 2023.
