One pedestrian killed, and one pedestrian injured near 320 N STATE ST in River North

A pedestrian was killed after a Thursday early morning collision in River North on December 7, 2023 at 12:30 AM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 320 N STATE ST, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to distraction from inside the vehicle.

A 2016 Infiniti QX60 was heading south. The driver, a 40-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt; she was uninjured.

A 56-year-old woman (pedestrian) was killed.

The police report described the pedestrian, a 37-year-old woman, as using a cell phone; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 12:31 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 275th injurious crash reported in December 2023, and the 15,652nd injurious crash reported in 2023. It was the 130th fatal crash for 2023.
