One person killed near 732 W 76TH ST in Englewood

A passenger was killed after a Sunday early morning angle collision in Englewood on October 18, 2020 at 4:21 AM.

The crash occurred near 732 W 76TH ST, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a stop sign. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to yield right of way.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A Honda Civic was heading south. The police report described the driver, a 29-year-old woman, as failing to yield. Her airbag did not deploy; she was uninjured. A 26-year-old female passenger was killed; her airbag deployed from the front. One other passenger was uninjured.
• A 2012 Buick Lacrosse was heading west and was hit in the rear. The driver, a 50-year-old woman, was uninjured.

Police were notified at 4:21 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 775th injurious crash reported in October 2020, and the 11,561st injurious crash reported in 2020. It was the 110th fatal crash for 2020.
