One person killed, one person severely injured near 3200 W NORTH AVE in Humboldt Park

A passenger was killed and a driver was severely injured after a Saturday night turning collision in Humboldt Park on July 28, 2018 at 9:55 PM.

The crash occurred near 3200 W NORTH AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2016 Harley-Davidson was heading west. The driver, a 38-year-old man, was not wearing a helmet; he reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries. A 28-year-old female passenger was not wearing a helmet and was totally ejected; she was killed.
• A 2007 GMC was heading west while turning left and was hit in the front. The driver, a 60-year-old woman, was uninjured. One other passenger was uninjured.

Police were notified at 9:55 PM. This was the 1,414th injurious crash reported in July 2018, and the 9,356th injurious crash reported in 2018. It was the 61st fatal crash for 2018.
