One person killed, and five other people injured near 46 E 43RD ST in Grand Boulevard

A driver was killed after a Saturday afternoon head on collision in Grand Boulevard on February 5, 2022 at 4:39 PM.

  • A 2016 Volkswagen Jetta was heading west while slowing or stopping in traffic and was hit in the rear-left-corner. The driver, a 57-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed from the front; she reportedly suffered unspecified injuries. A 78-year-old female passenger was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed from the front; she reportedly suffered unspecified injuries.
  • A 2012 GMC Savannah was heading west while slowing or stopping in traffic and was hit in the front-right-corner. The driver, a 51-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag did not deploy; he was uninjured. One other passenger was uninjured.

There was one other vehicle involved but not being driven: A 2017 Hyundai Elantra, hit in the rear-left-corner.

Police were notified at 4:39 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 142nd injurious crash reported in February 2022, and the 1,203rd injurious crash reported in 2022. It was the 15th fatal crash for 2022.
