One person killed, and one other person injured near 5358 S KEELER AVE in West Elsdon

A driver was killed after a Saturday afternoon head on collision in West Elsdon on October 13, 2018 at 3:00 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 5358 S KEELER AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a stop sign. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to traveling the wrong way or on the wrong side.

• A 1997 Lincoln Towncar was heading south and was hit in the front. The driver, a 24-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed from the front; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 3:00 PM. This was the 638th injurious crash reported in October 2018, and the 13,096th injurious crash reported in 2018. It was the 87th fatal crash for 2018.
