One person killed, one person severely injured near 4013 S ROCKWELL ST in Brighton Park

A passenger was killed and a driver was severely injured after a Sunday morning collision with a parked motor vehicle in Brighton Park on August 22, 2021 at 11:38 AM.

The crash occurred near 4013 S ROCKWELL ST, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to reckless, careless, or aggressive driving.

A 1996 Chevrolet Silverado was heading south. The police report described the driver, a 22-year-old man, as going too fast for conditions. He was not wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed from the front; he reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries. A 51-year-old male passenger was not wearing a seat belt; he was killed.

There were two other vehicles involved but not being driven:
