One person killed near 3699 N LAKE SHORE DR in Lake View

A driver was killed after a Sunday night hit-and-run collision with a fixed object in Lake View on September 17, 2023 at 11:34 PM.

The crash occurred near 3699 N LAKE SHORE DR, on a road divided by a median barrier. The posted speed limit was 40 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
