One person killed near 2634 W GLENLAKE AVE in West Ridge

A driver was killed after a Thursday early morning collision with a parked motor vehicle in West Ridge on August 17, 2023 at 12:30 AM.

The crash occurred near 2634 W GLENLAKE AVE, on a one-way road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to distraction from outside the vehicle; and, secondarily, to distraction from inside the vehicle.

A 2005 Honda Accord was heading west. The driver, a 22-year-old man, was killed.

There were four other vehicles involved but not being driven:

• A 2015 Hyundai Sonata, hit in the rear-left-corner.
• A 2013 Toyota Camry, hit in the side-left.
• A 2014 Nissan Pathfinder, hit in the rear.
• A 2010 Honda Odyssey, hit in the rear.

Police were notified at 12:30 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 791st injurious crash reported in August 2023, and the 10,025th injurious crash reported in 2023. It was the 83rd fatal crash for 2023.
