One person killed, and one other person injured near 3248 W 87TH ST in Ashburn

A driver was killed after a Saturday afternoon angle collision in Ashburn on May 25, 2024 at 12:00 PM.

The crash occurred near 3248 W 87TH ST, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 40 mph. There was a stop sign. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to yield right of way; and, secondarily, to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2014 KIA Sorento was heading north. The police report described the driver, a 21-year-old woman, as failing to yield. She was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed; she reportedly suffered unspecified injuries.
  • A 2022 CAN-AM was heading west and was hit in the front. The driver, a 70-year-old man, was killed.
