One cyclist severely injured near 150 N MICHIGAN AVE in The Loop
A cyclist was severely injured after a Monday early morning collision in The Loop on May 26, 2025 at 4:53 AM.
The crash occurred near 150 N MICHIGAN AVE, on a road divided by a median barrier. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding other traffic signs; and, secondarily, to failing to yield right of way.
A 2024 General was heading south and was hit in the front-left-corner. The driver, a 65-year-old man, was uninjured.
An 18-year-old man (cyclist) was not wearing a helmet and he was totally ejected. The police report described him as crossing against the signal and disregarding traffic controls/signals; he reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.
Police were notified at 4:53 AM. This was the 1,310th injurious crash reported in May 2025, and the 6,547th injurious crash reported in 2025.
