One person killed, and one other person injured near 3002 E 91ST ST in South Chicago
A driver was killed after a Monday afternoon angle collision in South Chicago on July 4, 2022 at 4:42 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
The crash occurred near 3002 E 91ST ST, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals; and, secondarily, to reckless, careless, or aggressive driving.
There were three motor vehicles involved in the crash:
- A 2014 Chrysler 300 was heading east. The police report described the driver, an unknown age male, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. The police report did not have additional details about the driver, or his two passengers.
- A 2009 Honda Accord was heading north and was hit in the side-left. The driver, a 38-year-old man, was killed; his airbag deployed.
- A 2006 NEW Flyer D40LF operated by the CTA was heading west and was hit in the front. The driver, a 33-year-old man, reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. One other passenger was uninjured.
Police were notified at 4:42 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 193rd injurious crash reported in July 2022, and the 7,714th injurious crash reported in 2022. It was the 63rd fatal crash for 2022.
