A driver and a passenger were killed after a Thursday afternoon angle collision in West Pullman on March 10, 2022 at 1:39 PM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
The crash occurred near 12400 S MICHIGAN AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 35 mph. There was a stop sign. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding a stop sign; and, secondarily, to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:
- A 2005 Volkswagen Touareg was heading east. The police report described the driver, a 22-year-old man, as failing to yield. His airbag deployed and he was trapped; he was killed. A 16-year-old male passenger was killed; his airbag deployed. An unknown age male passenger was not wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
- A 2020 Hyundai Kona was heading north and was hit in the front. The driver, a 59-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed from the front; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. An unknown age male passenger was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed from the front; he reportedly suffered unspecified injuries.
Police were notified at 1:40 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 317th injurious crash reported in March 2022, and the 2,368th injurious crash reported in 2022. It was the 24th fatal crash for 2022.
