A pedestrian was killed after a Sunday early morning collision in North Lawndale on August 12, 2018 at 2:41 AM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
The crash occurred near 1526 S PULASKI RD, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (an arrest was made); and, secondarily, to exceeding the posted speed limit.
A 2006 Honda Civic was heading north. The police report described the driver, a 22-year-old man, as failing to yield and being under the influence of alcohol. His airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. An 18-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed. One other passenger was uninjured.
A 50-year-old woman (pedestrian) was killed.
Police were notified at 2:44 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 597th injurious crash reported in August 2018, and the 10,091st injurious crash reported in 2018. It was the 71st fatal crash for 2018.
