One pedestrian killed near 601 E 75TH ST in Grand Crossing
A pedestrian was killed after a Monday afternoon angle collision in Grand Crossing on December 13, 2021 at 2:11 PM.
The crash occurred near 601 E 75TH ST, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals; and, secondarily, to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:
- A 2009 Jeep Patriot was heading east. The police report described the driver, a 21-year-old man, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. His airbag deployed from the front and his vision was reportedly obscured by moving vehicles; he was uninjured.
- A 2000 Ford Explorer was heading north and was hit in the front-left-corner. The driver, a 29-year-old woman, was uninjured; her airbag deployed from the front.
A 68-year-old woman (pedestrian) was off the roadway; she was killed.
Police were notified at 2:13 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 584th injurious crash reported in December 2021, and the 15,666th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 148th fatal crash for 2021.
