One person killed, and one other person injured near 2631 W WARREN BLVD in United Center

A driver was killed after a Saturday early morning rear end collision in United Center on September 20, 2025 at 1:55 AM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 2631 W WARREN BLVD, on a one-way road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a stop sign. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash; and, secondarily, to disregarding a stop sign.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2021 Dodge Durango was heading east. The police report described the driver, a 42-year-old man, as going too fast for conditions. He was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
  • A 2020 Hyundai Sonata was heading east while slowing or stopping in traffic and was hit in the rear. The driver, a 30-year-old man, was killed; his airbag deployed.

Police were notified at 2:01 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,073rd injurious crash reported in September 2025, and the 13,174th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 60th fatal crash for 2025.
