One person killed, and two other people injured near 2734 W CORTLAND ST in Logan Square

A driver was killed after a Sunday afternoon head on collision in Logan Square on December 14, 2025 at 4:36 PM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 2734 W CORTLAND ST, at a t-intersection. The posted speed limit was 25 mph. There was a stop sign. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2011 KIA Soul was heading east. The police report described the driver, a 56-year-old man, as attempting an improper turn and being ill or having fainted. His airbag deployed from the front; he was killed.
• A 2021 Audi E-Tron was heading west and was hit in the front. The driver, a 41-year-old man, reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag did not deploy. His passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 4:39 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 530th injurious crash reported in December 2025, and the 17,230th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 80th fatal crash for 2025.
