One person killed near 2155 N LAKE SHORE DR NB in Lincoln Park

A driver was killed after a Saturday evening collision with a fixed object in Lincoln Park on July 25, 2026 at 7:11 PM.

The crash occurred near 2155 N LAKE SHORE DR NB, on a road divided by a median barrier. The posted speed limit was 40 mph. The weather was overcast and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash; and, secondarily, to inadequate driving skill, knowledge, or experience.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2021 Suzuki Motorcycle was heading north. The police report described the driver, a 20-year-old man, as going too fast for conditions. He was wearing a DOT-compliant motorcycle helmet and he was totally ejected; he was killed.
• A 2025 Ford Expedition operated as a taxi was heading south and was hit in the front-left-corner. The driver, a 43-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag did not deploy; he was uninjured. Two other passengers were uninjured.

Police were notified at 7:12 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,399th injurious crash reported in July 2026, and the 10,257th injurious crash reported in 2026. It was the 51st fatal crash for 2026.
