One person killed, three people severely injured near 7300 S RACINE AVE in Englewood
A passenger was killed; and two drivers and another passenger were severely injured after a Saturday night angle collision in Englewood on July 31, 2021 at 10:50 PM.
The crash occurred near 7300 S RACINE AVE, at an intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a stop sign. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to yield right of way; and, secondarily, to disregarding a stop sign.
There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:
- A 2008 Nissan Rogue was heading west. The police report described the driver, a 26-year-old woman, as failing to yield and being under the influence of alcohol. She reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries. A 23-year-old female passenger was killed. A 21-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.
- A 2019 KIA Optima was heading south. The driver, a 25-year-old woman, reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.
Police were notified at 10:50 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,669th injurious crash reported in July 2021, and the 9,069th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 74th fatal crash for 2021.
