One person killed, and five other people injured near 9800 S DR MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DR in Roseland

A driver was killed after a Tuesday afternoon head on collision in Roseland on July 8, 2025 at 1:15 PM. 5 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 9800 S DR MARTIN LUTHER KING JR DR, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to traveling the wrong way or on the wrong side; and, secondarily, to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

There were three motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2024 Chevrolet Malibu was heading north while driving the wrong way. The police report described the driver, a 46-year-old man, as going the wrong way. His airbag deployed; he was killed.
• A 2022 Toyota RAV4 was heading south and was hit in the front-left-corner. The driver, a 30-year-old man, reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed. A 30-year-old female passenger was in a child restraint and her airbag deployed; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
• A 2018 Chevrolet Equinox was heading south and was hit in the front-right-corner. The driver, a 52-year-old woman, reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag deployed. An unknown age female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag deployed. An unknown age male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed.

Police were notified at 1:15 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 402nd injurious crash reported in July 2025, and the 8,920th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 41st fatal crash for 2025.
