One cyclist killed, and one cyclist injured near 1101 W LELAND AVE in Uptown
A cyclist was killed after a Thursday morning collision with a parked motor vehicle in Uptown on June 9, 2022 at 8:18 AM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
The crash occurred near 1101 W LELAND AVE, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 25 mph. There was a stop sign. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to obscured vision.
A 2015 Great Dane was heading east and was hit in the under carriage. The driver, a 36-year-old man, was uninjured.
A 3-year-old girl (cyclist) was wearing a helmet and using a light source; she was killed.
A 44-year-old woman (cyclist) was in a bike lane, wearing a helmet, and wearing contrasting clothing. The police report described her as near a parked vehicle; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
There was one other vehicle involved but not being driven: A 2020 International, hit in the side-left.
Police were notified at 8:18 AM. This was the 396th injurious crash reported in June 2022, and the 6,351st injurious crash reported in 2022. It was the 53rd fatal crash for 2022.
