Two people severely injured near 7900 S KEDZIE AVE in Ashburn

A passenger and a driver were severely injured after a Wednesday afternoon hit-and-run angle collision in Ashburn on January 3, 2018 at 4:15 PM.

The crash occurred near 7900 S KEDZIE AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 35 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to exceeding the posted speed limit; and, secondarily, to disregarding traffic signals.

There were three motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2005 Nissan Sentra was heading north. The police report described the driver, an unknown age male, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. The police report did not have additional details about the driver. His passenger, a 21-year-old man, reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.
  • A 2005 Kia Sedona was heading east and was hit in the total (all areas). The driver, a 28-year-old man, reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries; his airbag did not deploy.
  • A 2003 Volvo operated commercially was heading east and was hit in the side-right. The driver, a 55-year-old man, was uninjured; his airbag did not deploy.

Police were notified at 4:30 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 138th injurious crash reported in January 2018, and the 138th injurious crash reported in 2018.
