Two people killed, two people severely injured near 3900 S LAKE SHORE DR SB in Oakland

A driver and a passenger were killed; and another driver and another passenger were severely injured after a Sunday early morning rear end collision in Oakland on November 23, 2025 at 4:22 AM.

The crash occurred near 3900 S LAKE SHORE DR SB. The posted speed limit was 50 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2010 KIA Forte was heading south. The police report described the driver, an unknown age male, as failing to yield. He reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries. An unknown age passenger was wearing a seat belt and their airbag deployed from the front; they reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries.
  • A 2011 Chevrolet Malibu was heading south while slowing or stopping in traffic and was hit in the rear. The driver, an unknown age person, was killed. An unknown age passenger was killed; their airbag deployed.

Police were notified at 4:24 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,100th injurious crash reported in November 2025, and the 16,406th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 75th fatal crash for 2025.
