One person killed, and two other people injured near 2150 W 111TH ST in Morgan Park

A passenger was killed after a Tuesday evening collision with a parked motor vehicle in Morgan Park on December 25, 2018 at 7:05 PM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 2150 W 111TH ST, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to obscured vision.

A 2016 Ford Focus was heading west. The driver, an 84-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt, her airbag deployed from the front, and her vision was reportedly obscured by water/ice on the windshield; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. A 61-year-old female passenger was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed from the front; she was killed. An 89-year-old male passenger was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed from the front; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

There were two other vehicles involved but not being driven:

• A 2013 International Harvester, hit in the rear.
• A 2013 International Harvester, hit in the rear.

Police were notified at 7:05 PM. This was the 1,151st injurious crash reported in December 2018, and the 16,347th injurious crash reported in 2018. It was the 107th fatal crash for 2018.
