Three people killed, and four other people injured near 6900 S LOOMIS BLVD in Englewood

Two passengers and a driver were killed after a Monday evening hit-and-run angle collision in Englewood on October 1, 2018 at 7:07 PM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 6900 S LOOMIS BLVD. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals; and, secondarily, to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

There were four motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2013 Ford Fusion was heading east. The police report described the driver, an unknown age male, as attempting to evade police. His airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
  • A 2009 Ford Fusion was heading north and was hit in the total (all areas). The driver, a 25-year-old man, was killed; his airbag deployed and he was trapped. A 24-year-old male passenger was killed; his airbag deployed and he was trapped. A 3-year-old male passenger was killed; his airbag deployed from the side and he was totally ejected. A 2-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered unspecified injuries; her airbag deployed from the side.
  • A 2015 Nissan Pathfinder was heading west while slowing or stopping in traffic and was hit in the front-left. The driver, a 43-year-old woman, reportedly suffered unspecified injuries; her airbag deployed from the side.
  • A 2015 Chevrolet Cruze was heading west while slowing or stopping in traffic and was hit in the front. The driver, a 30-year-old man, was uninjured; his airbag did not deploy. A 26-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag did not deploy. One other passenger was uninjured.

Police were notified at 7:07 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 44th injurious crash reported in October 2018, and the 12,502nd injurious crash reported in 2018. It was the 85th fatal crash for 2018.
