One person killed, and one other person injured near 1000 E 130TH ST in Riverdale

A driver was killed after a Wednesday afternoon sideswipe opposite direction collision in Riverdale on March 19, 2025 at 4:35 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 1000 E 130TH ST, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. The weather was clear and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to driving after drinking (no arrest was made).

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2019 Nissan Sentra was heading east while changing lanes. The police report described the driver, a 55-year-old man, as going too fast for conditions and being under the influence of alcohol. His airbag deployed; he was killed.
  • A 2021 Cadillac Escalade was heading west and was hit in the side-right. The driver, a 55-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag did not deploy; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 4:35 PM. This was the 891st injurious crash reported in March 2025, and the 3,291st injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 16th fatal crash for 2025.
