Two people killed, one person severely injured, and one other person injured near 3800 W LAKE ST in Garfield Park

A driver and a passenger were killed; and another passenger was severely injured after a Wednesday morning angle collision in Garfield Park on February 5, 2020 at 11:53 AM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 3800 W LAKE ST, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2009 Ford Fusion was involved in the crash. The police report described the driver, a 44-year-old man, as going too fast for conditions. His airbag deployed from the front; he was killed. An unknown age passenger was killed; their airbag deployed. A 54-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries; her airbag deployed.
• A 2014 Dodge Journey was heading west and was hit in the total (all areas). The driver, a 31-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 11:53 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 155th injurious crash reported in February 2020, and the 1,364th injurious crash reported in 2020. It was the 9th fatal crash for 2020.
