One person killed near 101 W ROOSEVELT RD in Near South Side

A driver was killed after a Thursday night rear end collision in Near South Side on November 18, 2021 at 10:50 PM.

The crash occurred near 101 W ROOSEVELT RD, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 25 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2014 Jeep Compass was heading east. The driver, a 33-year-old man, was killed; his airbag deployed from the front.
  • A 2012 Subaru Forester was heading east while slowing or stopping in traffic and was hit in the rear. The driver, a 20-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag did not deploy; she was uninjured. One other passenger was uninjured.
