One person killed, and one other person injured near 5150 S ARCHER AVE in Archer Heights

A driver was killed after a Wednesday evening turning collision in Archer Heights on April 15, 2020 at 7:15 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 5150 S ARCHER AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dusk, the weather was overcast, and the roadway was dry. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 1998 Pontiac Trans AM was heading west. The driver, a 39-year-old man, was killed; he was trapped. A 38-year-old male passenger was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed from the front; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
• A 2011 BMW 328I was heading east while turning left and was hit in the side-right. The driver, an 18-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag did not deploy; he was uninjured.

Police were notified at 7:17 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 286th injurious crash reported in April 2020, and the 3,663rd injurious crash reported in 2020. It was the 24th fatal crash for 2020.
