One pedestrian killed near 2401 W TOUHY AVE in West Ridge

A pedestrian was killed after a Tuesday evening collision in West Ridge on July 20, 2021 at 8:26 PM.

The crash occurred near 2401 W TOUHY AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dusk, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to inadequate driving skill, knowledge, or experience; and, secondarily, to failing to yield right of way.

A 2003 Toyota Corolla was heading south while turning right. The police report described the driver, a 96-year-old woman, as failing to yield. She was wearing a seat belt and her airbag did not deploy; she was uninjured.

A 75-year-old man (pedestrian) was in a crosswalk. The police report described him as crossing with the signal; he was killed.
