One person killed, and two other people injured near 2140 W 119TH ST in Morgan Park

A driver was killed after a Friday morning angle collision in Morgan Park on October 9, 2020 at 10:40 AM. 2 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 2140 W 119TH ST, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a stop sign. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to yield right of way.

There were three motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2007 Chevrolet Aveo was heading south. The police report described the driver, a 21-year-old man, as failing to yield. He was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed from the front; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. A 19-year-old female passenger was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed from the front; she reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
• A 2017 Hyundai Elantra was heading west and was hit in the front-right-corner. The driver, an unknown age female, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed from the front; she was killed.
• A 2003 Volvo operated commercially was heading east and was hit in the front. The driver, a 23-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag did not deploy; he was uninjured.

Police were notified at 10:45 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 368th injurious crash reported in October 2020, and the 11,154th injurious crash reported in 2020. It was the 104th fatal crash for 2020.
