One person killed near 5259 W IRVING PARK RD in Portage Park

A driver was killed after a Saturday evening hit-and-run turning collision in Portage Park on April 23, 2022 at 7:55 PM.

The crash occurred near 5259 W IRVING PARK RD, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dusk, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to yield right of way.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2003 BMW 330I was heading west while turning left. The police report described the driver, a 41-year-old man, as failing to yield. His airbag deployed from the front; he was uninjured.
• A 2012 Harley-Davidson was heading east. The driver, a 25-year-old man, was not wearing a helmet and was totally ejected; he was killed.
