One person killed, and one other person injured near 6900 S ASHLAND AVE in Englewood

A driver was killed after a Wednesday early morning angle collision in Englewood on April 1, 2020 at 4:50 AM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 6900 S ASHLAND AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2007 Dodge Charger was heading west. The police report described the driver, an unknown age male, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. His airbag deployed; he was killed.
• A 2014 Volvo operated by the CTA was heading north and was hit in the front-right-corner. The driver, an unknown age male, was wearing a seat belt; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

There was one other vehicle involved but not being driven: A 2015 Mazda MAZDA6, hit in the front.

Police were notified at 4:50 AM. This was the 4th injurious crash reported in April 2020, and the 3,381st injurious crash reported in 2020. It was the 20th fatal crash for 2020.
