One person killed near 4590 S COTTAGE GROVE AVE in Grand Boulevard

A driver was killed after a Thursday early morning turning collision in Grand Boulevard on November 10, 2022 at 2:35 AM.

The crash occurred near 4590 S COTTAGE GROVE AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 35 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to an improper turn or failure to signal; and, secondarily, to improper overtaking or passing.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2018 Dodge Journey was heading west while making a U-turn. The police report described the driver, a 19-year-old man, as attempting an improper turn. His airbag did not deploy; he was uninjured.
  • A 2021 Yamaha was heading south and was hit in the side-left. The driver, a 27-year-old man, was not wearing a helmet and was totally ejected; he was killed.

Police were notified at 2:37 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 426th injurious crash reported in November 2022, and the 13,901st injurious crash reported in 2022. It was the 112th fatal crash for 2022.
