Four people killed, one person severely injured near 11200 S STONY ISLAND AVE in South Deering

Two drivers and two passengers were killed; and another passenger was severely injured after a Sunday early morning head on collision in South Deering on June 22, 2025 at 3:04 AM.

The crash occurred near 11200 S STONY ISLAND AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dark, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2013 Dodge Challenger was heading south. The driver, a 20-year-old man, was killed; his airbag deployed and he was trapped. A 20-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed.
• A 2020 Dodge Challenger was heading north and was hit in the front. The driver, a 21-year-old man, was killed; he was trapped. A 19-year-old female passenger was killed; her airbag deployed and she was totally ejected. A 19-year-old female passenger was killed; her airbag deployed.

Police were notified at 3:24 AM and made a report on scene. This was the 1,189th injurious crash reported in June 2025, and the 8,020th injurious crash reported in 2025. It was the 37th fatal crash for 2025.
