Two people killed, and three other people injured near 2727 S ARCHER AVE in Bridgeport

A driver and a passenger were killed after a Saturday afternoon turning collision in Bridgeport on October 15, 2022 at 3:45 PM. 3 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 2727 S ARCHER AVE, at an l-intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash; and, secondarily, to an improper turn or failure to signal.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2005 Nissan Murano was heading south while turning left. The police report described the driver, an 86-year-old man, as attempting an improper turn. He was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he was killed. An 85-year-old female passenger was wearing a seat belt and her airbag deployed; she was killed.
• A 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was heading north and was hit in the front. The driver, a 21-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. A 22-year-old male passenger was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries. An 18-year-old male passenger was wearing a seat belt and his airbag deployed; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

Police were notified at 3:46 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 715th injurious crash reported in October 2022, and the 12,666th injurious crash reported in 2022. It was the 104th fatal crash for 2022.
