One person killed near 2801 N HARLEM AVE in Montclare

A driver was killed after a Saturday night turning collision in Montclare on September 29, 2018 at 9:35 PM.

The crash occurred near 2801 N HARLEM AVE, at a center turn lane. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding traffic signals; and, secondarily, to inadequate driving skill, knowledge, or experience.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2005 Honda was heading north. The police report described the driver, a 29-year-old man, as going too fast for conditions. He was wearing a helmet and he was totally ejected; he was killed.
• A 2015 Scion TC was heading south while turning left and was hit in the front-right. The driver, a 23-year-old man, was wearing a seat belt and his airbag did not deploy; he was uninjured.

Police were notified at 9:35 PM. This was the 1,401st injurious crash reported in September 2018, and the 12,413th injurious crash reported in 2018. It was the 82nd fatal crash for 2018.
