One person killed, and four other people injured near 2421 S KOSTNER AVE in North Lawndale

A driver was killed after a Friday evening sideswipe opposite direction collision in North Lawndale on March 23, 2018 at 8:44 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 2421 S KOSTNER AVE, on a divided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dark but with streetlights. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were four motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2013 Jeep Wrangler was heading north. The driver, an unknown age male, reportedly suffered unspecified injuries; his airbag deployed from the front.
• A 2011 Infiniti M37 was heading south and was hit in the front-right. The driver, a 25-year-old man, reportedly suffered unspecified injuries; his airbag deployed. A 36-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered unspecified injuries; her airbag deployed from the front.
• A 2007 Toyota Toyota was heading north and was hit in the rear-left. The driver, a 33-year-old woman, was uninjured; her airbag did not deploy.
• A 2006 Pontiac was heading south and was hit in the front. The driver, a 22-year-old man, was killed; his airbag deployed and he was trapped. A 39-year-old female passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; her airbag deployed from the front and she was trapped.

Police were notified at 8:44 PM. This was the 913th injurious crash reported in March 2018, and the 3,258th injurious crash reported in 2018. It was the 20th fatal crash for 2018.
