Two pedestrians killed, and one other person injured near 6800 N WESTERN AVE in West Ridge

Two pedestrians were killed after a Friday evening turning collision in West Ridge on November 12, 2021 at 5:20 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 6800 N WESTERN AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a traffic light. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was rainy, and the roadway was wet. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to reckless, careless, or aggressive driving.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

  • A 2008 Chrysler Sebring was heading south. The police report described the driver, a 25-year-old man, as going too fast for conditions. His airbag deployed from the front; he reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
  • A 2007 Toyota Camry was heading northwest while turning left and was hit in the front-left-corner. The driver, a 23-year-old woman, was wearing a seat belt and her airbag did not deploy; she was uninjured.

An 88-year-old woman (pedestrian) was off the roadway; she was killed.
