One person killed, and three other people injured near 146 S WESTERN AVE in United Center

A driver was killed after a Thursday night turning collision in United Center on April 15, 2021 at 11:05 PM. 3 other people reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 146 S WESTERN AVE, on an undivided road. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. It was dark but with streetlights, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report did not specify a cause for the crash.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 1997 Lexus 300 was heading west while making a U-turn. The police report described the driver, a 58-year-old woman, as attempting an improper turn. Her airbag deployed from the front; she was killed. A 17-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed from the front.
• A 2004 Chevrolet Express was heading north and was hit in the front. The driver, a 33-year-old man, was uninjured; his airbag deployed from the front. A 36-year-old male passenger reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries; his airbag deployed from the front. Police were notified at 11:05 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 657th injurious crash reported in April 2021, and the 3,594th injurious crash reported in 2021. It was the 25th fatal crash for 2021.
