One person killed, and one other person injured near 4900 S DREXEL BLVD in Kenwood

A driver was killed after a Monday evening hit-and-run angle collision in Kenwood on July 11, 2022 at 8:48 PM. One other person reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash occurred near 4900 S DREXEL BLVD, at a four-way intersection. The posted speed limit was 30 mph. There was a stop sign. It was dawn, the weather was clear, and the roadway was dry. The police report attributed the cause of the crash to disregarding a stop sign.

There were two motor vehicles involved in the crash:

• A 2012 Lexus IS250 was heading south. The police report described the driver, an unknown age male, as disregarding traffic controls/signals. The police report did not have additional details about the driver, or one of his passengers. His passenger, an unknown age male, reportedly suffered non-incapacitating injuries.
• A 2015 Subaru Crosstrek was heading east and was hit in the total (all areas). The driver, a 62-year-old woman, was killed; her airbag deployed and she was trapped.

Police were notified at 8:55 PM and made a report on scene. This was the 510th injurious crash reported in July 2022, and the 8,031st injurious crash reported in 2022. It was the 67th fatal crash for 2022.
